Monday (August 26): Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi, in a meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, discussed the Kashmir issue and clarified that any issue between India and Pakistan is purely bilateral and does not need mediation from other countries.
Though India is not one among the seven parties to G7, PM Modi arrived at Biarritz, France Sunday evening on a personal invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron. In a summit session held today (August 26), PM Modi spoke on biodiversity and climate change.
G7 or Group of 7 is an international intergovernmental economic organization consisting of the seven largest IMF-described advanced economies in the world, which are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. From 1997 to 2014, Russia too was one of the members of the group when it was known as ‘G8’. But after Crimea’s annexation by Russia in 2014, it was expelled from the group.
