Saturday (September 7): Pakistan has rejected President Ram Nath Kovind’s requst to use its airspace for foreign visits, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said today. Pakistan’s decision is in retaliation to India’s recent abrogation of Article 370.

The decision was approved by Prime Minister Imran Khan in view of the tense situation in Kashmir, the minister told state broadcaster PTV. According to news agency AFP, Mr Qureshi attributed the reason for its decision to India’s “recent behaviour” on bilateral issues.

President Ram Nath Kovind is to embark on visit to Iceland, Switzerland and Slovenia from Monday (September 9). There he is expected to brief the top leadership of those countries on issues such as cross-border terrorism.
