Thursday (August 29): At a DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organization) event in Leh, Ladakh, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Pakistan has no locus standi on Kashmir and no country is backing it on the issue”. Mr. Singh’s response was against the Pakistan’s efforts to internationalize Kashmir issue.

Mr. Singh said, “US Defense Secretary Mark Esper during a telephonic conversation told him that abrogation of provisions of Article 370 was an internal matter of India.” “No country is with Pakistan on the current issue”, he added.

Reasserting that, India wants to have good neighborly relationship with Pakistan, Mr. Singh said, but it should first stop exporting terror to India.

Since’ August 5 move’ of the Indian government to abrogate the provisions of Article 370, Pakistan has been constantly trying to bring the issue out from the bilateral net and make it international one, so that India’s sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir will be compromised.
