Wednesday (September 4): Indian Prime Minister is invited by Russia to attend the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow in May 2020. “We are expecting you in May next year at the celebrations devoted to marking the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Victory over Nazism,” the Russian president Vladimir Putin told Prime Minister Modi during their talks.
Mr. Narendra Modi arrived in Russia for 2-day visit. He visited city of Vladivostok to participate in Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), a first such visit by an Indian PM. Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the Indian PM for attending the EEF in Russia’s Far Eastern port city of Vladivostok as the guest of honour.
He also visited Zvezda shipbuilding complex along with Russian President Putin. Putin held a one-on-one meeting with Modi today, discussing a broad range of issues while traveling on a boat to a new Zvezda shipyard and on the way back, state-run Tass news agency reported.
“A solid package of bilateral documents had been agreed on, including in trade, investment and industrial sector, on military and technical ties, education and culture,” President Putin said. He further emphasized that “Russia and India have been working rather actively on the global arena, supporting each other. Our positions are very close or coincide on many key issues of the international agenda.”
About the Great Patriotic War:
The Great Patriotic War is described as military conflict during the period from 22 June 1941 to 9 May 1945 along the many fronts of the Eastern Front of World War II between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany and its allies. The end of Great Patriotic War is commemorated on 9 May when Hitler’s Nazi Germany surrendered.
