Tuesday (September 3): Three Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel from fire and safety wing and the Residential Plant Supervisor of ONGC were among dead in fire that broke out at the processing plant of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in Uran, Navi Mumbai today. Firefighters intervened and the situation is now under control. The area at a distance of 1-km around the plant is sealed by Police.

CNG (Compressed natural gas) services in and around Mumbai region are affected by this fire disaster.

The dead are identified as C.N Rao (50), Residential Plant Supervisor of ONGC; Capt. E. Nayaka (48), S.P. Kushwaha (36) and M.K. Paswan (33) of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Three more were injured.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is a multinational oil and gas PSU. It is India’s largest oil and gas exploration and production company under the administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. It produces around 70% of India’s crude oil (equivalent to around 30% of the country’s total demand) and around 62% of its natural gas.
